I am of the opinion that artists and their works should be critiqued separately, they should be separated.
I've seen examples of artists drawing cute innocent stuff while being violent dogs. I've seen people draw questionable dark stuff while being decent people.
Though you may ask what about those who put their own personality/trauma/story in their works? Well, sure, shy not. That means the work has a message. A person who hasn't seen abuse can also create a story like about an abuser for example, and it will be a different message. The message of the work and the reason behind this message, (for example you can add a message in a book "gay is awesome abd the only way to live" while not really supporting gays, just to piss off conservatives lol) it can be related to the author. We eventually do put a piece of ourselves in the work, wether it be our fears, views, likes/dislikes. But such equating rhetoric is especially hypocritical when it's coming from someone who's drawn gore fir example. You drew a wounded dead body wtf is wrong with you? You're a murder irl? Or(once again)you draw scenarios with abuse? You must be into it ew disgusting (and fuck it if the author was the victim themselves yeah)
Art reflects the artist, but not in such primitive way.

Tho I know that I know nothing.
